As your favorite online fabric store, we pride ourselves on always having the latest and greatest designs available. In fact, our awesome team has put together a list of our favorite trends right now. Here are a few trends in fabric prints to look for this year.

Prints from Nature Are Hot

One of the most popular trends in fabric for 2021 is natural elements. By this term, we mean those that use inspiration from various aspects of the earth. For example, those that resemble marble and stone in the print. Florals and other similar patterns are also more popular now that in previous years. Metallics are also quite trendy for the coming year. Think stripes of gold, silver, or copper pared with gray backgrounds for a bit of an earthy appeal.

These fabrics are super fun for creating clothing items, tote bags, and other fashion accessories. For quilts and pillows, you can pair these prints with solids to create a bold and modern look. Or use elements in the pattern to tie into an overall theme for a whimsical appeal.

Ocean Inspiration

Another fabric trend for this year is anything with an ocean inspiration. Hues of aqua, purple, teal, and more are really in demand right now, which could be due to the fact that traveling to the beach for vacation is pretty much off limits for a lot of people now. Even prints with mermaids, fish, and nautical flair are really popular.

The fun thing about this is that it isn’t just clothing and accessories for children that we’re seeing it in. There are a ton of grown adults out there who wish they were sitting on the coast of somewhere beautiful, so it is no wonder why this style is so on trend right now.

Ombre Explosion

The ombre print is another one that seems to be here to stay through the coming year. This gradual blend of color is great for a wide range of projects including quilts, baby items, clothing, and so much more. If you’re thinking about making a gift for a friend or family member, the bright hues of the various ombre prints are a wonderful option.

Furthermore, when most people think about ombre, they only consider large bursts of color. The truth is that ombre is more of a texture than a color style. So, it is just as easy to find monochrome ombre fabric in tones of gray, making them a great fit for home decor sewing projects.
