Hemp Cotton Fleece

Our newest batch of hemp cotton fleece fabric has arrived finally. It always seems so far off, and before I know it, the fabric arrives.

We carry the nicest quality of hemp cotton fleece available on the market today. It is 59″ wide, and weighs in at a whopping 18 ounces per yard. Thick and plush best describes this natural colored hemp fleece.

We carry this fabric as a sweatshirt fabric, a soaker fabric for diapers, and the many many other uses that would call for a knit fabric. We have seen many hoodies made with this fabric for the organic earth friendly oriented crowd. Stop by and check out our hemp!

Wandering the wool world

As I wander the net looking at wool, uses for wool, how they make wool. I found a site that details wool like none other. I suppose I shouldn’t direct people to a competitor, but the info is outstanding! I have always admired their colors, perhaps if I ever had to buy diapers and covers the color alone would draw me in.

Anyway, here is a link to their info about wool

Wools?!

Have you seen the woolies being produced around the net? Some beautiful things are available for your little ones. And the wool is the finest we have had in years. The wool we offer is super soft, oeko tex 100 certified yarn. I wanted to update you all on the processes involved with our wools and maybe show you what is being done with our wools. Give you some great ideas as to what to make with it all! There are as many uses for wools as there are patterns. Any pattern calling for knit (in our case) can be sewn with wool. I personally have used wool for diaper covers, breast pads, blankets, face masks, long undies, base layers, sleep sacks, coats, hats and gloves.  I am sure there are more, but that is what comes to mind.

Wool is the preferred fabric because of the breath ability and moisture absorbing properties that everyone raves about. One night, my daughter and I decided to camp out in the yard. It was 40 outside so I thought I better take my new wool blankets. We headed out, blankets in tow, and you know, they were the best things. Our faces got cold, so I covered our  heads with the blankets. We did not get that hot feeling you get when you cover up with other blankets. We were able to sleep comfortably under the blankets all night. I would have not believed it had I not tried this myself.

As for moisture wicking, I did use wool diaper covers with my kids, and the wool is great. You can almost be guaranteed that you will not have leaks over night or during the day if you use the wool. A good diaper paired with a good wool cover will keep baby dry with out overheating. Several people swear by wool used as boosters. Simply lay a cut of wool inside the diaper, either under a soaker, or against babies skin to help boost the diaper. Many people will tell you that wool against the skin will inhibit diaper rashes.

Many of you will say that wool is so expensive, and you are certainly right. Wool garments last much longer than their cotton counterparts, and with diligent care can be passed from person to person for years.
