We have a great assortment of bamboo velour in stock and ready to ship. There are about 15 colors, something for everyone. Bamboo velour makes great garments, trim and accessories.
We have so many things made from bamboo velour; pillows for the couch, blankets, pajama’s, yoga pants and pillow cases. We have used bamboo velour as accent trim on hoodies and pajamas.
The wash routine for bamboo velour is super, just wash warm or cold, rinse cold and dry until dry. We have never experienced the piling or matting that others have spoken of, it stays true to what it starts out as.

Our newest shipment of bamboo fabric has arrived and they are as lovely as usual! Each month we receive between 1000 and 2000 yards of bamboo fabric into our warehouse for staging. At that time we decide what needs to drop ship to our customers, what needs to drop ship to us, and then what remains for later drop ships. We typically carry 1000 yards month to month just so we are sure to have stock.
We are currently planning our orders that will come sometime near the end of April. The order for the end of March was placed in early January. I am not sure really, but I am hoping the new colors of bamboo velour we requested get pushed through. It is time for new color! We will certainly be stocking up on bamboo fleece, bamboo heavy fleece and bamboo terry of all kinds!
Do you have special needs in terms of bamboo? Just let us know, we are glad to help!

Cotton velour is quickly becoming one of our best sellers. It is soft, washes well, and stays true wash after wash. Our cotton velour is 80% cotton and 20% polyester. Polyester is found in the backing of most all the cotton velour available today. It adds stability to the fibers.
Most all of the cotton velour we carry is 54″ wide and weighs in at about 13 ounces per linear yard. It will not shrink a lot, and most is colorfast, the royal blue may be the exception.
Cotton velour has as many uses as there are patterns. I have personally used it for pajamas, lounge pants, tops, shorts and diapers. If your pattern calls for a knit, cotton velour will work.
We currently have 34 different colors or prints in the cotton velour line. Stop in and check it out!

I get quite a few emails each week from people looking for organic cotton knit fabric. When I get bombarded I start to wonder what all the hype is, then I start researching.
Organic cotton is grown from plants that are not modified genetically, that is grown without the use of any synthetic fertilizer or pesticides. Do they still use chemicals? Of course. Do they still use tons of water? Yes. After reading several articles it is hard to determine just what chemicals are being used to ward off pests and as fertilizers.
Sadly, only .75 percent of the cotton grown is organic according to the Organic Trade Association. And of the small percent, only 7000 bales as on 2008 were grown in the United States, and conditions have not been good the last few years. The reason? No gain for the farmer.
Organic cotton is taking a strong foothold in the textile industry. I get many requests for organic and sustainable fabrics each week, so I know people are aware and looking for these alternatives to conventional textiles.
All of our organic cotton knits are featured in our organic category, along with our bamboo fabric. Our bamboo velour, bamboo fleece, bamboo terry and bamboo jersey are all mixed with organic cotton, the bamboo is also organic.

Our bamboo fleece is the finest bamboo fleece available. We offer a bamboo fabric that is 63″ wide and weighs approximately 15 ounces per linear yard. Our bamboo fleece will likely shrink less than 10% when you prep it for sewing. We recommend washing warm or hot, rinsing cold and drying hot a few times to be sure it won’t shrink after sewing.
Bamboo fleece can be dyed just like any plant fiber, and takes dye beautifully. You will find bamboo fleece to be quite like sweatshirt fleece, smooth on one side, with a fleece-y texture on the reverse side. The pile is low on this, but super soft! Bamboo fleece is very soft and luxurious, and changes very little with washing.
We also carry a heavy bamboo fleece, this is super heavy, weighing in at about 20 ounces per yard normally. It can be used in much the same way as the regular weight fleece, but expect more warmth and absorption.
Our bamboo velour is also top quality. Our bamboo velour is about 64″ wide, and weighs about 14 ounces to the linear yard. The difference between velour and fleece is that the velour has nap or direction. When sewing with velour you will want all the pattern pieces laid out in the same direction.
Our bamboo velour comes in many colors, but it will also take dye beautifully, and you will find many tutorials online for specialty techniques that work really well on the velour.
Now, the big question. What can you make with either of these fabrics? For either the list is just as long as the pattern choices available. I would use patterns that call for knit fabrics, or fabrics with stretch. Bamboo velour has more stretch than fleece, but both still have quite a bit of stretch. I have made lounge pants, tops and skirts from both. Also jackets and hats.
Let us know some of your ideas.
